My recent projects...

I am home with the flu today needing something to do, so I thought I'd post some pictures of some of the projects I've been working on lately.

Jake and I really wanted a cool picture to hang on our boring white wall, but the awesome ones we found online were too expensive. I had a lot of old magazines lying around and making pictures out of clippings has been a fun hobby of mine SO..... I made a wall picture myself. It's kind of hard to see in the pictures because of the flash, but it works. I liked the idea of someone traveling somewhere and chose the ocean scene because of all the colors I could use. Here are some close-ups:

The boat is made entirely of chopped up violins. :)

I liked the idea of a treasure chest spilling things out. My favorite thing is the golden high heel. and last are some really vain mermaids...(I could NOT figure out how to turn it right-side-up! sorry!)

I call this the "Queen of the Sea"...
A really flamboyant octopus.

Here are some magazine clipping pictures that I made before:

I wanted a new awesome bed-spread, but of course couldn't afford one SO.... I grabbed a white comforter I had in storage and made a quilt thing to go at the foot of the bed. I'm really obsessed with owls and black and white lately and I'm not sure why, so I made (what else) a black and white owl quilt!

Sideways again! Dang!

A few weeks ago when I was doing Thoroughly Modern Millie, I had to make my own costumes. Sewing things for yourself gets frustrating because it's hard to pin, etc so I wanted to buy a dressform (mannequin things that you use for sewing). The cheapest ones I could find were like $100 SO.... I made my own out of nylon fabric and cotton stuffing! I took my measurements, cut out the fabric, sewed it, and stuffed it to be my exact size. Then Jake helped me hook two wooden dowels together with a metal thing and I shoved it up the center. It acutally works perfectly well and it only cost me $15!

I've always wanted bright blue shoes for some reason and I got some hand-me down heels a few months ago that were in really good shape, but a neutral color. I found out that you can order shoe dye online SO... I dyed the shoes blue and added a feather thing. Maybe they look a little crazy, but I really like them.

Wow Karlee. I love all your stuff. I can't comprehend how you just whip things up. You could sell your art work, and everything else. You talented little devil.
