Two positions opened up for 3/4 workers with benefits. I applied and was hired for one of them! So I finally get benefits and I only work 10-4 everyday but make the same amount I was making before! It's fantastic. Now I also have access to all the advising stuff I need so I can offer real help to students who need it which is my favorite part about my job. I actually feel like I'm making a difference for someone. Students are much easier to work with and much more grateful than faculty.
What else is new? Jake bought a car so he has something to drive to work besides humpty and dumpty (the old rickety Laser Precision vans). It's actually not a new car. It's a giant Bronco from the 90's. Jake is in love with it. He's named it Rosie (because it's red...). He loves to take it driving places even though the gas mileage is like 10 mpg. I'm happy for him. Here's us at home:
That's me just polishing my pots as usual (ha ha... did people really do that?) Anyway, we're just keeping busy. I was in a show this summer at the American West Heritage Center as part of their annual Wild West Shakespeare. The show was called "A Whole Lotta Fussin' Over Nothin" and it was based on (you guessed it) Much Ado About Nothin. It was fun. We got paid to do it so that was nice. I was music director for Cache Regional Theatre's production of Scarlet Pimpernel. The show turned out awesome! We had a great turnout and I think everything really came together. Right now I'm in a british comedy murder mystery at the Old Barn Theatre called The Murder Room. I play this lady who marries this old man for his money and tries to kill everyone off, but is too dumb to actually accomplish it. I get a kick out of it.
We keep busy at church. Jake is a Young Men's advisor and I teach the wild and crazy sunbeams. Here's a picture of my class:
Aren't they sweet? It's been an adventure, that's for sure. My first day in there, they were lifting chairs over their heads and throwing them at each other, dragging the table around and jumping on it, and taking off their socks and shoes and throwing them around. I think there was also screaming and a bit of wall climbing. I was in shock. I thought "how the heck am I supposed to do this?" But I'm starting to learn how to keep them under control. If you just have enough stickers to give out, you can make them behave (usually). I also have these dorky finger puppets to act out gospel stories and they actually love it. Maybe it's slightly sacrilegious to have prophets played by a cat and mouse, but it keeps their attention.
The fam went to Disnelyand about a month ago. I had a blast. I'll post some pictures when I get them. Well, that's all for now.

Karlie. You are so funny. I love all the pictures. I would love to see you perform. And I heard about you being musical director on that show. That's so amazing. I don't know how you find the time to do all of that with your job. I'm going to be in Logan in November so lets try to hang out!
K, first of all CONGRATS on accomplishing such a fantastic post! Secondly the pics and script were a hoot. I love picturing you in your primary class. I wish that I could see you in your shows. I haven't been in anything since....hm, I already forgot. Anyway keep polishing your pots and pans, and I'll be expecting another post of your Disneyland pics. Ah, lucky!
I was so happy to see the Heaps at the top of my blog list! You crack me up. I love the pictures.
It sounds like you are having a great time! I would love to come to your show at the old barn! When does it play?
I'm the primary chorister and I live with a sunbeam, so I know how you feel! Just be assured that we sunbeam parents are very grateful to you teachers. It may seem like they aren't retaining much, what with the hair pulling, shoe throwing, tie chewing, nose picking, chair jumping, etc., but Kellen always surprises us with the things he has learned from his class. It's awesome!
Don't wait a year for next post, mmm-kay? I so love them! :)
Say hi to Jake for us!
