Been a while since I updated this thing. I was in a boring sort of funk. Anyway I'll cut to the good stuff... I have two big announcements!
1. We bought a house! I'm still surprised it worked out because it's the third house we tried to buy, but it actually worked out this time! It is in Smithfield close to the park. It was built in 1917, and we love old houses so that is perfect. It's over 4,000 square feet with 3/4 of an acre and sits on the Smithfield River! It also has 7 bedrooms and it's original hardwood floors. The plumbing and heating have been all redone. The downside is it still needs a lot of renovation but Jake is all over that.
Here's a picture of the front of the house. Don't judge yet, we are going to paint it a different color. ANYTHING but brown!!! (or the other shades thereof...tan, etc.)
It will look cool eventually, it just doesn't right now. :) And here's a picture of the craptastic kitchen inside:
The night we closed, Jake and his brother went right over and tore out the bathroom. I hear that the kitchen is already torn out too and a wall knocked down to make it bigger. They are sure getting after it! I will show more pictures of the renovation as we go. We don't know if we'll stay here forever or sell it in a couple years, but for now it is home. We got it for like $30 per square foot which is crazy! I keep thinking though "Smithfield?.....really.....Smithfield?" but I have learned now that life never turns out how you plan so you have to just go with it. "Smithfield. Whatever." Maybe I'll love it there. It seems like a nice little town. I haven't been able to go see the progress of the house much which leads me to my next announcement.......
2. After a lot of sad there is finally some happy on this front: we are having a baby!!!!! I am due April 4, 2012! We are so excited. When I first found out I cried for like 10 minutes. We had our first ultrasound at 10 weeks (I think it was so early because the last one was abnormal). When we first saw our baby I couldn't believe it! It doing water aerobics or something. It was swimming up and down and moving it's arms and legs and turning itself over. I was laughing. Here is a picture:
I was so nervous for the ultrasound because of last time, but it was such an amazing relief. It is real! I can't believe there is a little person inside of me. I have had some not-so-fun side effects, though. Mostly just barfing and barfing. I have had to miss a lot of work. It is like having the stomach flu for 3 months. And just when I thought the nausea was getting better, I caught this virus thing that is going around up here. It came with a sinus infection, which made me more nauseous than ever. The doctor said that it is because of all the drainage. Sorry that's gross.... anyway hopefully I'll feel better soon! We've been living in the vacant half of Laser Precision the past month because our crusty old landlord wouldn't let us rent our apartment for September because we were leaving anyway. So I've just been hanging out in the attic with my barf bucket! And a couple spiders....they actually don't even freak me out. Maybe it's because I don't have the energy to care about them. Also, about a week ago, I was in a musical: Annie. I was Lily St. Regis, the bimbo girlfriend from Jersey City. It was fun, but to be honest, if I had had any idea how sick I would be, I don't think I would have done it. By the last performance, I was so sick that Jake had to stand off the side backstage with a barfbag. Blech! Glad that's over. I am at 13 weeks tomorrow so hopefully this will start to let up.
Well, anyway, that's my news! This might be my longest blog post ever. Sorry bout that...I don't much like to type out all the details to things, so if you want details, I will tell you in the comments!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't be happier for you two!. First a way rad house, in beautiful Smithfield, and then prego! Oh boy. I think of you often, and so to get a blog update, and an awesome one too, just made my day. I'm so sorry about the current living conditions, and mostly about the barfing. I feel your pain there! I felt absolutely miserable for 20 weeks. I really hope it ends soon, so you can carry on with life as best as you can. Hip hooray! PLEASE blog more. For my sake.
Miss you. :)
What wonderful news! That's one way to end a blog-less streak. :) How fun to be settling in to a house and building a family. It's like what grown-ups do. Someday Erik and I will be grown-ups... I hope everything goes well with the renovation and the baby.
Hi Karlee. I'm just blog-stalking you from MJ's bog. CONGRATULATIONS!! The baby news is super exciting! And we are just starting the house hunt here in CT, so I liked seeing that you were successful in your hunt! Also. My parents saw your Annie and they said you were great - So I guess the barfing didn't hurt the show! Hope the sickness is all behind you now. No fun.
:)So happy for you guys!!!!
Oh my gosh! CONGRATS!!! We're so excited for you & sure do miss you guys! I'll be up there on Saturday. Do you have plans? I'd love to take you out to lunch or something if you're feeling up to it... :)
It is so fun to hear from all of you! Thanks for the happy wishes!
